BICC Outreach Programs

BICC started our Sunday Food Pantry Program in May 2019; we followed this program with our Sunday Soup Kitchen Program at the end of August 2019.

Our Food Pantry now serves more than 1600 families spreading from the Greater Bridgeport area to Stamford, Norwalk, Stratford, Ansonia, Danbury, Greater New Haven area, and Branford.

Both programs continued during COVID-19 pandemic without interruption. BICC Food Pantry Program is registered with the Connecticut Food Bank under number A-2154-001 and its Soup Kitchen Program is under number A-2154-002.

The average number of meals served under the Food Pantry is 300,000 meals per year; the average meals served under Soup Kitchen Program is close to 10,000 meals per year.We used to have an Overflow Shelter for when the temperature falls below 25 degrees in the winter. Unfortunately, we agreed with CT State Department of Social Services to stop the program during COVID-19 pandemic for safety reasons. Hopefully, we will be able to bring the program back with the pandemic subsiding.

We serve guests of any ethnic or religious background without discrimination, and our guest base is expanding rapidly. Actually, Muslim guests represent around 15% only of our served guests.
